Telangana: Under court watch, Exhibition society pays for fire services

While recording the statement and the affidavit, the bench closed the contempt petition.

Hyderabad: The government informed the Hyderabad High Court that the Hyderabad Exhibition Society had paid Rs 28.97 lakh that were due to the fire services department for safety arrangements made during the Numaish.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranga-nathan and Justice Shameem Akhter was dealing with a contempt case by city advocate Khaja Aijazuddin, seeking to punish home secretary Rajiv Trivedi, DG, Fire Services, Rajiv Ratan along with Exhibition Society secretary Aditya Margam and Hyderabad district fire officer M. Srinivasa Reddy for not recovering the dues despite a court order.

He said that the society owed Rs 90 lakh to the fire services department for the period between 2011 and 2017. When he moved a petition before the High Court, it had directed the society to pay the dues and the authorities were directed to recover the amount from the society.

Mr T. Srikanth Reddy, counsel appearing for the home department, said the society had earlier paid '64.96 lakh and the balance on November 7. The district fire service officer also filed an affidavit.

While recording the statement and the affidavit, the bench closed the contempt petition.
