Bengaluru: Kolkata landmarks at Durga Pooja pandals

People hailing from West Bengal, Gujarat and other parts of North India take active part in these festivities.

Bengaluru: Dasara the festival of victory of good over the evil is celebrated with pomp and piety across the city. It includes installation of idols of Goddess Durga, organizing dandiyas and bhajans.

The Bengali Association has been organising Durga Pooja celebrations in the city for the past 69 years and this year it is being organized at Manpho Convention Centre at Manyata Tech Park.

An association member told Deccan Chronicle, "Durg Pooja celebration has already begun and it will go on till Friday. This year it is being celebrated with the theme - Kolkata Collage, where one can find replicas of famous landmarks of Kolkata, including Victoria Memorial, Howrah Bridge, Dakshineshwara Kali Temple, Kali Ghat Temple, trams and hand pull rickshaw."

He said every day more than 25,000 people, including non-Bengalis visit pooja pandals.
