Hyderabad HC gives 3 weeks to appoint artistes

The officials moved an application before the bench seeking extension of time to complete the process.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the principal secretary, youth, tourism and culture department, to issue a notification within three weeks to appoint artistes and furnish a copy of the notification to the court.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrishnan and Justice Ramesh Ranganathan was dealing with a PIL by Jukanti Ramesh and two others questioning the action of the state government which approved the appointment of 550 persons as artistes on nomination by the Telangana Samskruthika Samithi.

The bench on July 10, 2018, had found fault with the government for approving the appointments which were made without issuing the notification and calling for applications from eligible candidates.

The bench directed the authorities to issue the notification within three weeks and invite applications for the posts and complete the appointment process within three months.

The officials moved an application before the bench seeking extension of time to complete the process. While expressing their displeasure at the officials not implementing the court order, the bench granted three weeks.

Stay order on externment kept

The Hyderabad HC on Monday refused to vacate the stay granted on the order of Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar externing the Sri Peetham seer Swamy Paripoornananda from the city.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice S.V. Bhatt while dealing with an appeal by Mr Anjani Kumar and the principal secretary, home, refused to consider the request of additional advocate general J. Ramachandra Rao.

He alleged the seer had taken permission in the name of a yatra but was continuing his propaganda against the minority communities.
