Telangana: Autos to join September 2 protest

JAC leaders A Sathi Reddy and Mr Venkatesham said the auto drivers have decided to join the bandh call.

Hyderabad: The Joint Action Committee of Auto Drivers Unions on Wednesday served a strike notice on Deputy Transport Commissioner Mr Ramesh saying all the autos would be off the road on September 2 in response to the national level bandh call by central trade unions.

JAC leaders A Sathi Reddy and Mr Venkatesham said the auto drivers have decided to join the bandh call. In the notice served on RTA officials, the JAC demanded that the Centre withdraw hefty penalties proposed in the draft of the new Road Safety Bill.

They also demanded that the Telangana government reign in Uber and Ola cab services by fixing meter fare on the lines of meter fare for autorickshaws. They demanded withdrawal of the 8th class mandatory clause to obtain transport driving licence.
