Some of them have gone on to become entrepreneurs themselves.

Adilabad: Adivasi youth have created history of sorts by entering the prestigious Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, after getting through a tough selection process. Some of them have gone on to become entrepreneurs themselves.

“My dream is to create an economic revolution among the Adivasis by establishing start-ups," Agriculture BTech holder Atram Roshan Kumar of Utnoor in Adilabad district says. He believes members of his community must become entrepreneurs. He has plans to establish a food processing small-scale industry or a sanitary napkin making industry after conducting a survey on feasibility and viability.

Kumra Nikhil of Utnoor was also selected and is undergoing training at ISB. Mr Nikhil, who just completed BTech in mechanical engineering and is undergoing training in the first phase for business entrepreneurship at the ISB said he wanted to establish textile industry as Adilabad is centre for cotton cultivation and production.

He said locals could get employment if the units were located in the district. Besides, farmers could get remunerative prices. Adilabad cotton is known for having the highest staple length in the country.
