Cops confirm letter written by YS Vivekananda Reddy authentic

Vivekananda Reddy’s relatives recorded their statements at the police station.

Kurnool: Kadapa SP Rahul Dev Sharma on Sunday confirmed that the letter purported to have been written by slain YSRC leader Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy was “authentic”, and said the investigation into the murder case was progressing at a brisk pace.

About 20 people have been taken into custody and several people connected with the case were questioned, he said.

The letter purports to show Vivekananda Reddy accusing his driver Prasad of beating him up.

Briefing mediapersons, the SP said Dr Sunitha, daughter of Vivekananda Reddy, had produced the letter at about 3.30 pm after the post mortem.

When questioned, she said that she feared harm to personal assistant Krishna Reddy and other family members from car driver Prasad whose name was mentioned in the letter.

The SP said the letter was sent for forensic analysis and the handwriting matched with that of the former MP.

The SP said 10 teams were working on the murder investigation — five from the SIT and five from the district police.

He said that the scene of offence was reconstructed and every minute clue was being pursued. He did not take any questions from the media.

Vivekananda Reddy’s relatives recorded their statements at the police station. Mr Y.S. Prathap Reddy said he did not suspect anyone, and had nothing to do with the demand for a CBI probe. “It is for political mileage that some are asking for it, and we had nothing to do with the demand,” he said.
