Three killed in accidents; Student drowns in Karnataka

The incident happened when a truck rammed the bike the duo was travelling in.

Kozhikode: Three persons were killed in separate accidents in the region on Saturday. A student of the Oriental College, Lakkidy, who was injured in a bike accident on Friday, succumbed to injuries on Saturday. The student Nurudheen, 21, son of Abu, a native of Cheloor in Malappuram, was undergoing treatment at Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode. His classmate Safvan, a native of Kanjangad had died earlier. The incident happened when a truck rammed the bike the duo was travelling in.

In another incident, a youth was killed when the bike he was travelling in lost control and hit an electric post near Sulthan Bathery, Wayanad. The youth was identified as Vignesh, 20, hailing from Chulliode. Another youth Yadukrishnan, who was riding pillion was admitted to a private hospital at Sulthan Bathery. A third person was killed when a tipper rammed a bike on Saturday morning. The incident occurred at Kalpetta, Wayanad. The victim was identified as Saji Abraham, 45, son of Valankal Abraham, a native of Varadoor, near Meenangadi. Saji died after the granite stones fell over him in the impact.

City student drowns in Karnataka
An engineering student who was on a tour to Karnataka from a city college drowned on Friday evening. Akshai, 20 son of Kizhakke Veettil Pathmanabhan, a native of Naduvattam here, had left for the trip on Tuesday. He was a student of Polytechnic engineering college, West Hill. The body was brought to his home at Beypore. Details of the tragedy are yet to be received, relatives said. He was doing third semester in electrical engineering. Akshay is survived by mother Jyothi and sister Aiswarya.
