Srinivas, who got fed up with a life of crime, approached the Cyberabad police for help to start anew.

Hyderabad: Karravula Srinivas Reddy, 25, was a juvenile in conflict with the law as a teenager and he was booked for around 80 offences. Hailing from a middle class family he was thrown out of his house when he was arrested for the second time.

Srinivas, who got fed up with a life of crime, approached the Cyberabad police for help to start anew. The cops responded and opened a tea shop for him. He has taken an oath not to get involved in crime.

Hailing from the Kalingini of Anantapur district, his relatives are well-settled. Srinivas was arrested for a cellphone theft in 2008. “His family had moved to Hydera-bad and he was studying in a private school at Lalapet. When he was accused of cellphone theft he was a minor,” said an official.

After he came out he got involved in burglaries. “When he imprisoned he de-veloped ties with prisoners and decided to commit more crimes,” the official said.

“He got acquainted with Satish, Venkatesh and Venkataiah in jail. After coming out of jail they committed a series of burglaries. Police arrested them,” said Malkajgiri DCP E. Ramachandra Reddy.

When he came out of jail in 2015 he approached police commissioner C.V. Anand. The commissioner issued an order to help him start a new life. A tea stall was set up for him at Neredmet.

Mr Anand said the police was ready to rehabilitate criminals who are ready to change. The police would also assist them to get loans from banks.
