Hyderabad: Sports park in KPHB dump yard

The park will be called Stratos', aimed at promoting sports, under the tagline Healthy minds in healthy bodies'.

Hyderabad: A four-acre dump yard at KPHB is being refurbished into a park, which will have courts for pickleball, beach volleyball and cricket. It is for first time the state is going to have a dedicated ground for Olympic game pickleball. It will have an astroturf court and a walking track and will be ready for the public in January, said GHMC authorities. The park will be called ‘Stratos’, aimed at promoting sports, under the tagline ‘Healthy minds in healthy bodies’. In the first phase, pickleball, beach volleyball courts and the walking track will be built at a cost of Rs 50 lakh.

Ms Hari Chandana Dasari, west zone GHMC commissioner, said, “Stratos will promote a healthy living through physical activities for both men and women and of all age groups. The zonal office has started the work by disposing of the garbage. Pickleball is being introduced for the first time.
