Rajnath Singh enquires about Gaja with CM, assures assistance

The release said the state would send a report to the Centre on the extent of damages caused by the Cyclone.

Chennai: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday assured government all assistance on behalf of in overcoming the havoc caused by cyclone Gaja.

Hours after the Cyclonic Storm 'Gaja' crossed the Tamil Nadu coast, the Union Minister spoke to CM Edappadi K. Palaniswami and enquired about the situation in the cyclone affected areas of the State and promised all possible assistance from the Centre. Mr Rajnath tweeted “assured all possible assistance from the Centre in mitigating the situation arising due to cyclone.” “Asked the HS to monitor the situation and provide all help to the state admin,” he added.

Meanwhile, an official release here said CM explained in detail to Mr Rajnath Singh about the steps taken by the Government during the Cyclone, the damages caused by it in several districts and the relief measures being taken on a war footing.

He also informed Mr Rajanth that the state had taken all precautionary measures and has provided shelter to over 82,000 people at 471 relief camps, where they have been provided food clothes and medicines.

The release said the state would send a report to the Centre on the extent of damages caused by the Cyclone, which has wrought havoc in Nagai, Cuddalore, Ramanathpuram, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Pudukkottai districts.
