Space science center at Hindupur

The 60-acre centre at Hindupur will create 500 jobs for skilled youth and 1,000 indirect jobs in Anantapur.

Vijayawada: Caneus International, a well-known organisation in the field of satellite and space technology, on Thursday, signed a tripartite agreement with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) and the Andhra Pradesh State Skills Development Corporation (APSSDC) to establish Centre of Excellence on Space Sciences and Technologies for Development (CoESSTD) in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

The MoU was signed by Milind Pimprikar, chairman, Caneus and J. Krishna Kishore, CEO, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, in the presence of Simonetta Di Pippo, director, UNOOSA, and senior officials of Isro at Bangalore. The 60-acre centre at Hindupur will create 500 jobs for skilled youth and 1,000 indirect jobs in Anantapur. It will also provide the much-needed fillip for the aerospace and defence ecosystem in Anantapur, according to the officials.

The Centre is likely to be completed by the end of 2018 and would enhance Anantapur as a premier destination for aerospace defence and automobiles sectors. Already, Anantapur has seen Kia motors, BEL and other major investments in aerospace defence and automobiles. This Centre of Excellence will enhance the status of Anantapur.
