Andhra Pradesh: New chief of VIMS sets his eyes on making it like NIMS

Sources said that there will be a meeting of the VIMS governing body.

Visakhapatnam: Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) will be developed on the lines of Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) Hyderabad in a couple of years, according to new VIMS director Dr K. Satya Vara Prasad, who is among the best neurosurgeons who assumed charge on Thursday.

So far a total of sixteen departments have been functioning in VIMS and there are 50 in patients in the hospital, he added. We are roping in experts in the field of medicine by paying hefty salaries, so that the quality of treatment does not reduce opined Mr Prasad.

The former director of VIMS and vice-chancellor of NTR University Dr CV Rao said that the AP government has committed for the development of VIMS and in the coming years VIMS will become a best medical research centre in the state he added. Soon VIMS will reduce the rush at trauma care and emergency services departments in KG Hospital in the city and we have been requesting the government for the financial support. Sources said that there will be a meeting of the VIMS governing body and during the meeting, the body will request the government for some more proposals.
