Hyderabad: LV Prasad Eye Institute celebrates 20 years

They have programs in 10,000 villages in 22 districts and have been able to provide primary as well as secondary care to them.

Hyderabad: As many as 1.5 to 2 crore people in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha have been treated for eye problems by LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) in their rural eye care programme.

LVPEI is celebrating 20 years in treating people’s eyes and state that 70 per cent of the rural population has been covered in these three states.

They have programs in 10,000 villages in 22 districts and have been able to provide primary as well as secondary care to them. The rural eye care program is in 18 secondary care level hospitals and 176 primary care vision centres in these states.

Dr G.N. Rao, founder and chair of LVPEI said, “We have been able to reach the most remote and neglected areas and provide quality eye care at affordable costs. Technological advancements, teleopthalmology and training locals in this field in these centres have made quality eye care more accessible.”
