Kerala floods: Idukki touches 2401.82 ft, Mullaperiyar at 141.95 ft

Tamil Nadu is releasing 26,000 cubic feet of water per second from the Mullaperiyar dam.

Kottayam: Water level of the Idukki dam touched 2,401.82 feet with five shutters open and that of Mullaperiyar dam touched 141.95 feet with 13 of the spillways of the dam opened with heavy water release.

Tamil Nadu is releasing 26,000 cubic feet of water per second from the Mullaperiyar dam. In the Cheruthony dam 1,500 cubic meters of water is being released per second.

With heavey rain still continuing in Idukki and inflow to the dam increasing, the district administration has evacuated more than 4,000 families from both sides of Periyar and moved them to rehabilitation camps.

According to sources from the district administration, the release of water will continue with the same force until heavy rains and inflow subside.
