Hyderabad: Emergency teams at work as rains pour miseries

While the rainfall persisted, the constant effort of the monsoon team and the traffic police kept the situation under control.

Hyderabad: Two trees fell due to heavy rains — one opposite the Telugu Academy at Himayatnagar and another in Chenna Reddy Nagar, Amberpet — causing traffic jams. Although the rains were scattered, it rained heavily over certain areas in the city.

Waterlogging was noted almost all over the city and the disaster management team and the GHMC’s monsoon workers were seen clearing clogged drains.

Waterlogging at Nectar Garden in Madhapur, DLF Road in Gachibowli and Raj Bhavan slowed traffic flow in these areas. The traffic police issued an advisory asking people to use other routes while the roads were being cleared.

At Begum Bazaar police station, staff had to open manholes to ensure the water flows in. Waterlogging was also reported in Nagole, Kothapet, Saroornagar circle, Earrum Manzil and a few other areas.

At Secunderabad’s Sithapalmandi, the GHMC cut cables to eliminate the obstruction and facilitate the flow of water.

While the rainfall persisted, the constant effort of the monsoon team and the traffic police kept the situation under control.

The weather bureau has forecast heavy rain from July 19 to July 21 owing to the depression over the Bay of Bengal.
