Sky full of stars to descend for IIMBue leadership conclave

Its annual leadership conclave, which claims to be a global platform for exchange of ideas and stimulating discussions.

Bengaluru: To encourage thought-provoking conversations and open gateways for exciting opportunities, with a dash of entertainment and nostalgia, the Alumni Association of IIM Bangalore (IIM-B) is hosting the third edition of IIMBue, its annual leadership conclave, which claims to be a global platform for exchange of ideas and stimulating discussions.

With more than 800 people expected to take part, the two-day conclave, scheduled to be held on July 20 and 21, is themed ‘Sensing the Future’. From panel discussions on executing leadership and power differently in the 21st century to breakthrough technologies and innovations across science, space and sports, the conclave has an impressive line-up of global thought leaders, entrepreneurs, business honchos and policy makers to address leadership challenges of the future.

Ms Nirmala Sankaran, Co-convenor of the conclave and co-founder of HeyMath, a web-based education platform, told Deccan Chronicle that the event will try to understand how the definition of success has transformed over time. “By enabling the delegates see through the lens of top-notch experts from various fields, including technology, economy, healthcare, sports, journalism, literature, administration and entertainment, the conclave will help one develop an understanding of the changes we are experiencing geo-politically, economically, technologically and societally and to address complex leadership challenges for the future,” she said.

While mystic and visionary Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev will be in conversation with Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh on the DNA of success in future, filmmaker Karan Johar and BTVI Consulting Editor Fatima Karan will hold a dialogue on how smart phones have begun to curate the entertainment domain.

A special panel comprising IGP for Home Guards and Civil Defence Roopa Moudgal, Consul-General of Israel to South India Dana Krush and founder CEO of YourStory Media will discuss woman as an emerging force across domains.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Secretary Hasmukh Adhia, Board Chairman of the Bank of Baroda Ravi Venkatesan, co-author of Start-up Nation: The Story of Israel’s Economic Miracle Saul Singer, former ISRO Chairman Dr Radhakrishnan, renowned cardiac surgeon Dr Devi Shetty, veteran badminton player Prakash Padukone, entrepreneur Aakash Ambani, Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj and others will be part of the diverse line-up of guests.

Organised by the IIMB Alumni Association (IIMBAA), the conclave is also its initiative to sustain it to be the best alumni network in the country, said Association president Saif F. Qureishi. “With more than 18,000 registered members spread across 75 countries, we are happy to provide a stage for all not just to listen to eminent speakers but also to get a unique platform to network, find job opportunities, and perhaps even to get the next client or raise funding for their start-ups,” he said. Biocon CMD Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw is the chief patron of the conclave which will take place at Taj Bangalore.
