Had gone in search of peace: V S Navas

Navas, meanwhile, said he had given a detailed statement to police and that he would be a disciplined officer for ever.

Kochi: Ernakulam Central Circle Inspector V S Navas, who had gone incommunicado before being traced from Tamil Nadu, on Sunday said he had gone in search of peace after being stressed out.

"I was stressed out and went to meet my teacher at Ramanathapuram. Midway through I came to know the happenings back home and was rushing home when the cops found me," Navas told reporters here.

The police officer went missing after he was reportedly scolded by his superior officer in wireless communication three days back. He left his home in the early hours of Thursday after leaving a message on his wife's phone. A case was lodged after his wife filed a complaint and a search operation launched. He was finally traced from Tamil Nadu on Saturday.

Navas, meanwhile, said he had given a detailed statement to police and that he would be a disciplined officer for ever.
"I was determined not to commit suicide..I was overwhelmed with the love shown by the society. I will be thankful and show my gratitude through my action," he said.

The officer said he would soon take up his new assignment as Circle Inspector of Mattancherry.

Navas, known as a straight forward and efficient officer, was earlier in charge of Mararikulam police station and was transferred to the Central station during the time of the Lok Sabha election.
