Telangana: Lucky escape for woman with minor injuries

A police complaint has been filed against the Kendriya Vidyalaya School, Picket, as the tree was inside the school compound.

Hyderabad: Corporate employee Sanju Sharma had a miraculous escape from a gigantic old tree which fell on her car on Saturday at Picket Road in Secunderabad. She escaped with minor injuries.

A police complaint has been filed against the Kendriya Vidyalaya School, Picket, as the tree was inside the school compound. However, school authorities did not respond to the complaint yet.

Narrating the terrifying incident the 29-year-old ADP employee said, “I was driving via picket school road at around 1.30 pm. I saw a huge branch falling down. In no time the tree itself dropped dead on the back of the car.

The windows were smashed to pieces and the all doors got jammed. I can still feel the impact of the tree. The first thing I noticed was that my head was injured. I could not see anything as the glasses were smashed.

A military guard and others pulled me out through the broken front windshield. The tree was very old. People said that every day dry leaves were being burnt on the school campus and this tree had caught fire too once.”

“I went for a CT scan to check for internal injuries in my head. However, there was none,” Sanju said. She filed a complaint against the school at the Karkhana police station and a case of negligence has been booked.

The Hyderabad traffic police and the SCB authorities took an hour to clear the branches from the road. The damaged car still remains on the road.
