Chandrababu Naidu green signals for High Court Bench in Rayalaseema

Mr Naidu, speaking in the Legislative Council, said he had written a letter to the Chief Justice on the issue.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday announced the establishment of a High Court bench in Rayalaseema to address the prolonged protests by advocates in the region. Mr Naidu, speaking in the Legislative Council, said he had written a letter to the Chief Justice on the issue. The Legislative Council, meanwhile, passed a resolution unanimously seeking special category status for Andhra Pradesh. The Chief Minister said that the struggle for special status will continue.

Mr Naidu said they have decided to establish a High Court bench in Rayalas-eema to address the demands of the people and the numerous requests received from advocates and party legislators and leaders. Mr Naidu, while mentioning he is committed to the development of Rayalaseema, said that the BJP tried to instigate public by its Rayalaseema Declaration. On the issue of SCS, the Chief Minister said that it is the a right of the people of AP and everyone should strengthen his hands by fighting with the Centre to fulfil the state bifurcation assurances.

The AP Legislative Council passed a resolution on Friday demanding the fulfilment of bifurcation promises by giving the special status. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should fulfil the promises made during his visit to AP, adding that the Centre’s allocations for various projects have been meagre in the state. The legislative council also spassed a resolution expressing concern over delay in fulfilling the bifurcation assurances.
