Hyderabad: Colleges call for Boycott of exams over refund

The associations are demanding the release of the fee reimbursements of Rs 485 cr of the last two years for intermediate.

HYDERABAD: Private Junior College associations and Private degree college managements have called for a boycott of intermediate and degree exams just ahead of the exams.

The associations are demanding the release of the fee reimbursements of Rs 485 cr of the last two years for intermediate, degree and PG courses across the state. The associations alleged that because of the delay of the reimbursements they are not able to pay the salaries and conduct the examinations.

Mr Gouri Satish, honorary president Private Junior College Managements said, “We are not in a position to run colleges because till date we have not received any fee reimbursements due to which we are unable to pay the salaries for the staff and the employees, electricity bills as well as rents of the college building. We demand that the government releases the fee reimbursements as soon as possible along with enhancement of fees by 10 percent.”

He added, “We are not in a position to conduct the intermediate exams, in the 1,185 exam centres for intermediate exams. There are about 785 exam centres in private junior colleges and all these colleges are not in a position to conduct the examination.”

so we request the Government to conduct the examination wherever possible. We have also issued the hall tickets and fulfilled our responsibility by finishing the academic year. Now it's the responsibility of the Government and the Board of the Intermediate to conduct the exams. How can we run colleges and conduct the examination if the Government doesn't release the funds!"

Mr Ramana Reddy, Chairman KG to PG Joint Action Committee said, "We have decided to boycott intermediate exams along with Degree and PG starting from February 28 and March 9, 2018, if the government doesn't release the funds as soon as possible. We have waited enough. For four years we have waited for the Government to clear the fee reimbursement dues but till date the dues have not been cleared which is not acceptable. The Government has shown enough negligence towards the state education system."
