Dharna to develop North Andhra at Visakhapatnam

FDNA on Tuesday released a poster on the March 1 dharna.

Visakhapatnam: After, protests from various quarters of Rayala-seema on the region’s development, various groups from the three districts of north Andhra are gearing up for a showdown against the negligence by the government towards the region.

Forum for Development of North Andhra (FDNA), after conducting various round-table meetings across the three districts since a few months has now decided to launch a movement with a massive protest on March 1 in Visakhapatnam.

FDNA on Tuesday released a poster on the March 1 dharna. FDNA chairman Prof. K.V. Ramana has said that they have held more than 30 round-table meetings since the Forum’s inception in September last year, to elicit opinion and views of the elite, intellectuals and other sections of the society on the backwardness of the north Andhra region.

He said that all the participants exhorted the need for the immediate attention of the state government to bridge the regional imbalances.

He demanded that the state government immediately take up all the pending projects of irrigation in the three districts, the union government to announce special package for the development of north Andhra as mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Bill, save public sector units from being privatised, sanction separate railway zone with Vizag as headquarters, establishment of fishing harbour and jetty at Bhavanapadu. A dharna on March 1 will be held at the GVMC Gandhi statue.
