Kurnool:1 lakh pilgrims witness Kalyanothsavam

Earlier they all took a holy dip in Patala Ganga.

Kurnool: Thousands of pilgrims converged at Srisailam on Sankranti day to witness the most sought after Kalyanothsavam of Lord Mallikarjuna Swami and Goddess Parvathidevi on Tuesday. Temple authorities made elaborate arrangements and held special pujas in Swami Amma Varla temples, like Viseshapujalu, Mandaparadhanalu, Janus-thalu, Panchavaranarchan-alu and Rudrahomam.

Late in the evening, around 9.30 pm, the officials organised Sri Bramari Mallikarjuna Swami Amm-avalra Kalyanotsavam. Later at night, on Tuesday, they held Seyanotsavam and Ekanta seva of Swami Ammavarlu. Devotees thronged Srisailam on Monday and Tuesday, on the occasion of Sankranti. As many as 1 lakh devotees who had arrived, observed the Kalyanam of Swami Ammavarlu and everyone offered prayers to the God and Goddess. Earlier they all took a holy dip in Patala Ganga.

The general darshan took 6-7 hours and special darshan 4-5 hours, the temple officials said. Several political leaders and state level officials visited the temple and offered prayers with their family members in Shrine of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Apart from this, the seven days' Brahmotsavams will end on January 18, officials said.
