Milking mines with Mysore Minerals Ltd blessing?

The report of the inquiry committee points at continuing flaws within the system of MML which facilitates illegal mining and transportation.

Ballari: Is the state-owned Mysore Minerals Ltd (MML) a perennial cash cow for all parties in Karnataka?

MML was in the news last week with state JD (S) president H D Kumaraswamy alleging illegal mining of iron ore worth over Rs 5,450 crores during the current Congress rule based on an internal inquiry report submitted by senior officers of the department of mines and geology. He charged that the scam was the handiwork of government officers in collusion with four contractors, including one controversial firm accused of forging a nexus with the then Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, before the unlawful mining case was brought to light.

The report of the inquiry committee, dated April 27, 2017, however, points at continuing flaws within the system of MML which facilitates illegal mining and transportation.
