Hyderabad: Juveniles assault staff, flee from shelter home

This is the third incident in the ROSE home since October.

Hyderabad: Six juveniles, who were apprehended in various cases and lodged in Rural Organisation for Social Empowerment (ROSE) observatory home, ran away on Saturday after threatening the home staff and damaging window panes.

This is the third incident in the ROSE home since October. The functionaries there have written to the authorities stating that they could no more run the home after the repeated incidents there and requested that the shelter be closed. The decision is pending with the department concerned.

Superintendent of the observatory home Mr Sailu said that on Saturday afternoon the boys were shifting vessels into the kitchen when suddenly they started breaking window panes and pulled out a tube light and threatened the staff. “They assaulted us, demanded the keys and took them forcibly and walked out of the home. All this happened in less than 10 minutes,” Mr Sailu said.

In October, four juveniles ran away from the home while three more juveniles fled from the same home in December.

A case was registered at LB Nagar police station based on a complaint filed by Mr Sailu. Inspector P. Kasi Reddy said police has deputed search teams to trace the boys.
