CID must probe BBMP official: Karnataka High Court

The court said the probe should be headed by a Superintendent of Police and initiated within 15 days after receiving its order.

BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday ordered CID probe against BBMP (Mahadevapura) Joint Commissioner Dr B.V. Vasanthi Amar. She is accused of ordering illegal conversion of khata of a land. Also, the court has directed the Revenue Department to suspend the official until the inquiry is completed.

The court said the probe should be headed by a Superintendent of Police and initiated within 15 days after receiving its order.The probe should be completed within three months and a report should be filed before the court within six months.

Techie missing
Hearing the case of missing techie Ajitabh Kumar, who disappeared on December 18, the HC directed City Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar to form a special team to investigate the case.

The court was hearing the plea filed by Ajithabh’s father seeking a CBI probe. The HC observed that the commissioner should take control of the investigation and directed him to pick up officers for the purpose. The court asked the authorities to update the progress on January 22.
