As fuel price inches up, people fume in Bengaluru

The minor changes in fuel prices displayed on petrol bunks had failed to outrage them.

BENGALURU: The steady, but nominal, increase in fuel prices over the past few months has now begun to bite the common man, as it has fuelled a price rise of essential commodities.

The minor changes in fuel prices displayed on petrol bunks had failed to outrage them.

Rudraiah, Director, Karnataka State Lorry Owners Association, said, “The prices are being increased every day ranging from 20 paise to 40 paise and it is human tendency to neglect it, as the hike is minor. But we fail to notice that in the end, the fuel prices have shot up by more than Rs 2 a litre. This is nothing but cheating the common man.”

Ankush Sen, a techie, said, “The government has smartly implemented the rule for flashing every day fuel price at petrol bunks so that people do not feel agitated. But this has led to an increase in prices of essential commodities and it is the common man who suffers.”
