Telangana: New members of UGC have set priorities

Newly appointed UGC members have vowed to improve quality of higher education in the country.

Hyderabad: Newly appointed UGC members, Prof. G. Gopal Reddy and Prof. Sushma Yadav, have vowed to improve quality of higher education in the country.

Gopal Reddy a former student of Osmania University, wants to do his bit for the varsity centenary fete.

Recognising their long experience in teaching, the Union HRD Ministry has appointed the two as new members. The UGC has ten members with six appointed for three years. Chairman, Vice-chairman and two IAS officers make up the remaining body.

Gopal Reddy, listing out priorities, especially for his native state Telangana, said “I will try to assist the varsity on UGC’s behalf for the celebrations,” he said.

Prof. Sushma Yadav from Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi, has a three-decades-long teaching experience.

“The goal is to make the world sit up and take note of the excellent quality of education offered in Indian institutions,” she said.
