Telangana: Cell tower issue plagues BSNL

The issue started three months back at the BTS installed at the top of BSNL Bhavan near the GHMC office.

Hyderabad: The state -run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has failed in offering quality service to the members of the Assembly with a tardy progress in in rectifying the snags with the Base Transmission Station (BTS) at Adarshnagar.

The issue started three months back at the BTS installed at the top of BSNL Bhavan near the GHMC office. The tower is serving BSNL’s customers at Adarshnagar, Liberty Junction, Aaykar Bhavan and surrounding areas.

Sources from the BSNL said that for the past three months there was an issue in the media over the cell tower. “Though customers receive good signal strength, they are unable to make or receive calls due to the failure of the media of the cell tower.”

M.V. Ramanaiah, BSNL deputy general manager, said that they had changed equipment 15 days ago to solve the scenario and increased three sections in the BTS exclusively for the MLA quarters.

The source, however, said, “There is no change in the issue and again there is a problem with the on/off system. Officials have managed with the old equipment and the only solution is to get new equipment.”
