Pujas continue for Dasara festival

KAKINADA: As Dasara celebrations draw near, 'Mula Nakshatra' puja continue on Monday. During the Dasaras, Mula Nakshatra pujas assume a lot of significance. Many of the devotees take ‘Deekshas’ for three days from Monday.

On these three days, they would not eat or use onion or garlic in their food. They also do not eat non-vegetarian food on Saraswathi pujas day. Saraswati pujas were performed today by students. Many temples like Talupulamma Lova, Manikyamba Temple at Draksharama, Puruhuthika temple at Pithapuram, Ksheera Rama Bhimeswara Swamy temple at Samalkot and many Goddess Durga temples were filled with devotees.

A large number of devotees took darshan of Goddesses in various temples in the district and performed special pujas. Many of the Peethams performed 'Saraswathi puja with students. Seers gave blessings to the students.

In Sri Peetham at Kakinada, Seer Swamy Paripoornananda Saraswathi performed Saraswati puja. Thousands of students attended and performed the puja under the guidance of Swamiji. He said that the students who offered prayers to Goddess Saraswathi would get good marks and good knowledge. In Gokulam, Pandits performed the pujas.

In Raja Rajeswari Peetham at Bikkavole, Devarabhotla Prabhakara Sarma performed Saraswathi puja with the assistance of students. Mr Sarma said that according to Hindu mythology, Goddess Sarawathi is the god of knowledge, music, arts and wisdom.

Through Saraswathi puja, people can get her blessings and attain knowledge. The puja is done on an auspicious day which is celebrated as Vasantha Panchami in various places in the district, he said.

He added that Saraswathi puja is not that hard to be performed. It requires a little care on tthe part of the individual in a few things like wearing neat dresses and concentrating on the Goddess without having any other thoughts and having a firm goal.
