Missing dog' posters at Ambattur

We handed over four puppies to our relatives, while we reared the last puppy and named Jack, said another member.

Chennai: Pet animals have been receiving a lot of attention in recent times. This was evident in the large number of ‘missing dog’ posters in and around Ambattur zone drawing attention of public on Monday.

The poster depicts picture of the dog named ‘Jack’. Further, it states that the dog went missing from Saturday morning (October 13) around 9 am. Interestingly, the owners of the dog have mentioned that those who find the dog and inform them would be rewarded with cash. As usual, there are address of owners and mobile numbers with names, whom one can reach after tracing the dog.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, B. Gopi, one of the family members, who reared the dog, said, “Really, a gloomy situation has set in our family, since our pet dog ‘Jack’ (2) was missing and we keep making frantic searches everywhere in our locality. As we are determined to rescue the dog, we preferred to paste posters so that someone noticing the dog can reach us with information.”

He went on to say that they a few months ago such dog, which is a Pomeranian breed, after which the dog delivered a litter of five puppies.

“We handed over four puppies to our relatives, while we reared the last puppy and named Jack,” said another member.

After posters popped up in the area, they received four to five calls and they stated that a dog with the chain wrapped up around its neck was seen in the areas, he said.

Meanwhile, public and passersby were seen staring at the posters. “I have never ever seen such kind of posters,” said M Saravanan, an auto driver of Ambattur.

Meanwhile, activists have wondered about such efforts made by the family to trace the dog. Dawn William, General Manager of Blue Cross of India, said, “Such posters will instill a sense of affection among the public. Further, it sends message that any kind of animal should not undergo cruelty.”

However, many people, rearing dogs, do not care, whenever age-old dogs are missed, he pointed out.
