VS Achuthanandan not aware of anyone peeping while voting

The UDF had submitted a complaint in this regard.

Thiruvananthapuram: Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman V.S. Achuthanandan on Saturday said that he did not see anyone peeping into the enclosure while exercising his vote in the Assembly elections. A police team from Punnapra came to his official residence “Kawdiar House” to record his statement in connection with the case here on Saturday. The veteran leader said he was not aware whether anyone tried to peep into the enclosure while voting.

On the direction of District SP a case was registered against Sudhakaran under section 171 (C 1, Peoples Representation Act 130, 131) which pertains to influencing a voter, forcing a voter to vote against his wishes, acting in a manner that violates secrecy of voting. The incident took place when Achuthanandan and family came to the polling booth at Government School, Paravur to cast their vote during last Assembly elections.

The allegation is that Sudhakaran, who was the LDF candidate from Ambalapuzha constituency, peeped into the enclosure while Achuthanan-dan was casting his vote. The UDF had submitted a complaint in this regard.

However, Sudhakaran in a counter complaint to the CEC had alleged that the Chief Electoral Office of Kerala had given direction to register case under pressure from outside forces.

“I was trying to find out whether VS had any problem in using the EVM,” he had stated.

Sudhakaran accused Chennithala who was the then home minister of foisting a false case against him.
