Petrol price hiked by Rs 1.34; diesel by Rs 2.77 per litre

Across country VAT or sales taxes rate vary so final quantum of hike in dual fuels will vary from state to state.

New Delhi: State owned oil marketing companies on Saturday midnight hiked petrol price by Rs 1.34 a litre and diesel by Rs 2.37 per litre (without including state duties in both fuels) across country due to increase in their prices in international markets.

After including VAT, hike in petrol in Delhi comes to Rs 1.73 a litre and diesel by Rs 2.77 per litre. Across country VAT or sales taxes rate vary so final quantum of hike in dual fuels will vary from state to state.

In Delhi petrol will now cost Rs 66.45 per litre and diesel Rs 55.38 a litre. “The current level of international product prices of petrol and diesel and Rupee-US dollar exchange rate warrant increase in selling price of petrol and diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision,” said a statement by Indian Oil Corporation.
