Civil supplies tableau gets 1st prize during the I-Day parade held in Anantapur
Anantapur: The tableau staged by the civil supplies department received first prize during the Independence Day celebrations held at Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy stadium here on Monday.
Minister for civil supplies Paritala Sunitha received the award from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. About 16 tableaus from various departments of the state participated in the parade at Anantapur.
Civil supplies department had the theme of the present system of introducing reforms and door delivery to the aged. Horticulture department tableau got second prize while AP Transco and Industries Department received third prize. Odisha police team was selected for the first prize during the parade and 9th battalion of Venkatagiri in Nellore district stood in second place.
NCC girls from Anantapur got prize for attractive performance at Independence Day parade. Chittoor SP G. Srinivas, Addl SP (Intel) P. Venkatrami Reddy, ACP North Visakhapatnam City Vasupalli Bhima Rao, ADC to Governor T. Srinivasa Rao, K. Narayana Reddy, P. Narayana, P.V. Nagesh and A. China Venkateswarulu AACs from Greyhounds received medals under several categories -Republic Day, Independence Day and Ugadi Puraskaralu.
During the annual parade dance troupes, showcased their diverse culture and heritage with in the form of dance. Authorities appreciated the district authorities including collector Kona Sasidhar, joint collector B. Lakshmi Kantham who was the in-charge of stadium and also SP S.V. Rajasekhar Babu over efforts to making a success the event. However, the selection procedure for schools to participate in the cultural programmes during state level I-Day celebrations drew criticism from many sections on Monday.
A government school was reportedly sacked from the event even after final selection and included a corporate school in the list. The Peddavadugur KGBV school students had given a tremendous performance and got the first prize.
