Thiruvananthapuram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has remarked that BJP workers were forced to call a hartal and termed the incident (of self immolation) in front of the BJP stir in Thiruvananthapuram “unfortunate”.

Interacting with BJP workers in the Lok Sabha constituencies of Kollam, Attingal, Mavelikkara and Patha-namthitta on Friday via official NaMo app, Mr Modi said both the UDF and the LDF governments were neck deep in corruption. “Time would come when the BJP would repeat a Tripura in the state,” Mr Modi said.

Without directly referring to Sabarimala or the suicide of a person in front of the Satyagraha pandal of BJP former state president C.K. Padmanabhan in front of the Secretariat, Mr Modi said the BJP activists were forced to observe a hartal on Friday. The incident was unfortunate, said Mr Modi.

The Prime Minister claimed that Rs 25,000 crore were disbursed to entrepreneurs through MUDRA scheme. He also said that the Centre had given full support to the state during the time of floods.

The Prime Minister recounted the benefits extended by his government to the people including health initiatives through Ayushman Bharat, expansion of rural roads, and the development of ports through the Sagarmala project.
