Telangana: Singareni Collieries major defaulter

The department also said that the ministry of mines is pressing for submission of monthly report on payment of contribution towards DMF.

Hyderabad: In paying royalty, Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) is a major defaulter, which has to pay Rs 2,159 crore as royalty and Rs 647.70 crore to the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) from January 20, 2016 to September 2017. This amount is in addition to Rs 1,058 crore to be collected by TS from other lease holders.

In a letter to SCCL, the TS mining department said that except payment of Rs 109.92 crore from February 2016 to April 2016, SCCL owes payment towards DMF from January 20, 2016, to September 2017 to the tune of Rs 447.70 crore in addition to Rs 2,159.02 crore towards royalty.

The mining department said that the accountant-general of Telangana has proposed inclusion of the “factual note” in the CAG report for the period ending March 31, 2017, for non-remittance of contribution towards DMF by lease holders, including SCCL. The department also said that the ministry of mines is pressing for submission of monthly report on payment of contribution towards DMF.
