Pondicherry University VC inaugurates industrial interface programme

Professor Singh also emphasised on the role of data and statisticians in administrative setup.

Puducherry: Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor Gurmeet Singh, urged the students to make use of the time on campus judiciously and serve the nation in their full capacity.

He was inaugurating the two-day industrial interface programme on statistical governance and data analytics organised by the department of statistics at the university on Thursday.

Professor Singh also emphasised on the role of data and statisticians in administrative setup. Further, he stated that data handling and analysis is also a pivotal task in all corporate and academic industries. Tharanikkarasu, registrar in-charge university, in his felicitation address emphasised on the need of data analysis in diversified disciplines and in government policy making.

A workshop on managing developmental disabilities was also organised at the university for the students of Applied Psychology by the CDMRP (Community Disability Management and Rehabilitation Programme) team from University of Calicut. Gurmeet Singh, who presided over the valedictory session emphasized on the need for sound mental health among faculty, staff and students. He was highlighting on the rich academic and environmental resources available at the university and urged the students to make the best use of them. Meena Hariharan, director, Centre for Health Psychology, University of Hyderabad delivered the special address on ‘Mental health- Physical health- Mutualism’.
She pointed out the requirement of psychological care in enhancing the physical well being.
