HAL workers strike work nationwide

The statement pointed out that the offer was reasonable, fair and in conformity with the wage agreements finalised by other Defence PSUs.

BENGALURU: Employees of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) launched an indefinite strike in units across the country on Monday, but the management of the state-owned aerospace and defence company described the strike as illegal.

The employees unions of the city-headquartered HAL served notice at all locations of the defence PSU to go on an indefinite stir from October 14 on settlement of wage revision, effective from January 1, 2017.

In a statement released to the media, HAL said “Conciliatory proceedings are on and against the advice of labour authorities who want the unions to arrive at an amicable solution without resorting to agitational means, they have gone on strike,” adding that these unions have demonstrated total disregard for the organisation classified as a defence establishment under public utility service.

The statement pointed out that the offer was reasonable, fair and in conformity with the wage agreements finalised by other Defence PSUs.
