Hyderabad: Princy, Brutus and Rio are stealing the show at the police expo in the city. They are part of the K9 Dog Squad of the Telangana state intelligence security sing.

Other attractions are the Martyrs Memorial wall with names of over 7,000 martyrs in country and 300 from the two Telugu states.

There were many takers for the 3D imaging scanner belonging to the clues team of Hyderabad police, which played a vital role in collecting evidence in the recent shootout case of Youth Congress leader M. Vikram Goud.

Princy, a member of the Cocker Spaniel breed is one of the 14 working dogs in squad. She hogged the limelight after welcoming the Chief Minister with a bouquet at the police exhibition in May 2017. She along with Brutus, a Golden retriever, Rio, a Beagle breed dog, are experts in detecting explosives and are deployed in VVIP duties. They are trained at the Integrated Intelligence Training Academy in Moinabad.

Around 90 dogs from different states and central agencies are trained in the academy.

The 3D machine, costing around Rs 40 lakh, was imported from the US. This can scan an area in 300 meters radius in 360 degrees and can capture accurate measurements between any two points in any building collapse sites and explosion sites.

It was used to measure the distance of the bullet fired in Vikram Goud’s case that proved crucial in the investigation.
