Government hospital lacks stretchers in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Scarcity of stretchers in the government hospital of Barkas was brought to the notice of health minister Dr Laxma Reddy after where a patient had to carry his mother suffering from paralysis to the first floor of the hospital on September 12.

Mr Abdul Majid, had carried his mother to the first floor as there was no stretcher. He said, “There was no one to attend to the patients on the ground floor. As it was an emergency I carried my mother to the doctor’s room. She had suffered a sudden paralysis stroke in the morning.”

An official in the state health department said the availability of facilities in all hospitals was being reviewed and lacunae were being addressed. “Area hospitals have infrastructure issues and they are being attended to,” he said.
