Blown transformer cuts, delays water into Hyderabad

Many areas that depend on Krishna water supplies received less water or saw delayed supply on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: Over 20 million gallons of water could not be pumped to residents after a transformer at the Narsapally pumping station near the ORR burst around 3.30 am. No pumping was carried out until 9.00 am which led to delays or short supply. A Water Board official said the transformer blew at the TS Transco yard due to which all the phases of Krishna scheme went dark. It took four hours to resolve the issue. The transformer was repaired by 7.40 am. “As there was no water inside the line, water was released later and some water leaked at Falaknuma junction valve,” he said.

Many areas that depend on Krishna water supplies received less water or saw delayed supply on Wednesday. The board supplied additional water during the evening hours.
