I-Day fete: 15 Police personnel to get CM's medal for excellence

The medals would be given away by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Chennai: Fifteen police officers will be presented with the Chief Minister’s police medal for excellence on the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day on Wednesday.

The medals are being given in recognition of their excellent work performed in criminal investigation and with a view to applaud the commitment and dedication to work. The medals would be given away by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Those selected for the award were S. P. Lavanya, Additional SP, Special Investigation Division, Crime Branch-CID, S. Namasivayam, DSP, Civil Supplies CID, Madurai, P. Ulaganathan, Inspector of Cumbum North Police Station, K. Krishnamoorthi, Inspector, Nolambur Police station, M. Saravanan, Inspector CB-CID, Nagapattinam, M. Clastin David, Inspector, CCB-Chennai, J. Magesh Kumar, Inspector Teppakulam Police Station, Madurai, P. Chitradevi, Inspector, CB-CID Theni, J. Jayanthi, Inspector, Jolarpettai Railway Police station and R. Surender Sub-Inspector Cantonment police station, Tiruchy.

An official release said similarly, as a token of recognition of the outstanding work done and the strong commitment to selfless Public Service, five Police Officers would be awarded the Chief Minister's Police Medal for Excellence in Public Service. They are Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, Commissioner of Police, Madurai City (now Inspector General of Police, Crime CID, Chennai), Ms J Mutharasi, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Administration, Chennai, D Kannan, Superintendent of Police, Special Branch CID, Chennai., T Rajnarayanan, Inspector of Police, (Technical), Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Chennai, OD at Office of the DGP, Chennai, V Anantharajan, Sub-Inspector Thittacherry Police Station, OD at Special Branch, Nagapattinam District.

Each recipients are eligible to receive a grant of Rs 25,000 besides a gold Medal weighing eight grams.

Medals would be presented by the Chief Minister at a special function to be held in due course, the release said.
