Justice will be delivered, Rahul Gandhi promises relatives

KASARGOD: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has promised to bring justice to the families of the slain Youth Congress workers in Kasargod. “I want to tell this to the perpetrators of the crime also,” he told mediapersons after visiting the house of slain YC worker Kripesh at Kallyot on Thursday.

“I understand the situation here. I assure you that justice will be delivered. For those who had done this, punishment is awaiting you,” said Mr Gandhi.

He later visited the house of YC worker Sharath Lal also. Both Kripesh and Sharath Lal were hacked to death allegedly by CPM workers at Kallyot here on February 16.

Mr Gandhi also saw the house being built for Kripesh's family by ‘Thanal’ group, led by Mr Hibi Eden MLA. He landed at the Periya campus airstrip of Central University of Kerala in a helicopter and reached Kallyot around 3 p.m.

Earlier, he had a brief meeting with the relatives of slain Youth Congress leader S.P Suhaib at the VIP lounge of Kannur international airport at noon.
The parents of Suhaib told reporters that Mr Gandhi had promised a CBI probe into the murder if the Congress was voted to power. Suhaib was murdered at Mattannur in Kannur allegedly by CPM workers in February last year.

The Congress president was accompanied by senior Congress leaders Mukul Wasnik, Oommen Chandy, K.C. Venugopal, Mullapally Ramachandran, K. Sudhakaran and Satheeshan Pacheny among others.
