HYDERABAD: Allegedly depressed over increasing family problems, a 19-year-old nursing student committed suicide in the college hostel at Vanasthalipuram.

Police said the deceased Chepala Supriya hanged herself to death from the ceiling, when her roommates had gone out of the room.

She left behind a suicide note in one of her books that read that she did not want to live anymore. A case has been registered and the police is investigating.

According to the police, Supriya hailed from Aurangabad village in Medak district and was in the second year studying general nursing at Sruthi College of Nursing located at FCI Colony. She was residing in the college hostel.

On January 28, she returned to the college after a holiday and since then she was dull and preferred to stay alone.

She even told her friends that she wanted to die, but never spoke about any reason, due to which her friends also did not take it seriously.

Neither did they inform her parents or the college authorities. Monday being a holiday, all her friends had gone out. When they asked Supriya to join, she refused and stayed in her room.

When they returned in the evening, they found her hanging from the ceiling of her room. The college management alerted the cops.

Police suspects that she could have been facing some issues in the family. “Prima facie a case is registered and we are awaiting the autopsy report.”
