Everyone wants to achieve something in life but not everyone is clear what that is.

Hyderabad: Psychology professor G. Padma from the University of Hyderabad said counselling is important during their college years as it is a transitional period for students. “There are several changes which may occur both psychologically and biologically,” she said.

While some students are able to perform well, others are not and for them the pressure is both internal and external. Everyone wants to achieve something in life but not everyone is clear what that is.

“Students are entering a new world. There is a possibility of certain changes occurring from the bio-cycle and social perspectives. It is the stage at which identity formation takes place. Owing to these several changes, some children may not be able to adjust, Prof. Padma said.

“As it is a career building /foundational stage, they must start building their careers and there is a lot expected of them, not just from the college management but also self-expectation, family expectation, social expectations etc.”

She said some of them may be clear about their goals but they not clear about how to reach it. goal. “Some have multiple goals. That creates pressure. Adjusting to several changes at a time may be difficult for some children, and a psychologist can support and help them to pass through,” Prof. Padma told this newspaper.
