Guntur: Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation regional manager, Guntur, has sought support from staff to halt illegal operations of private services that were leading to losses to rhe corporation.
Addressing a meeting of all unions and depot managers on Friday, G. Shrihri pointed out that the rural bus service was incurring huge losses with many commuters opting for auto rickshaws, seven seaters, cabs and jeeps. He said that these vehicles were plying illegally. Hence APSRTC employees and workers should start a postcard campaign seeking action against the illegal private transport vehicles.
He asked them to write postcards to the district collector, SPs, police officials, mandal officers and transport department officials pointing out the problem. Mr Shrihari asserted the need for the participation of every employee and official in the Parirakshna (protection) campaign.
The leaders of all APSRTC trade unions, managers of 13 depots and other officials participated in the meeting.
The postcard campaign seeking protection of APSRTC organization would help to increase occupancy ratio. As many as 600 Palle Velugu rural services of APSRTC incurred Rs 25 crore losses.
