29.7 mm rain pounds Bengaluru west

As per all India weather observation for city, isolated rains will continue till October 19.

Bengaluru: The city recorded 29.7 mm of rainfall on Friday, with the western suburbs bearing the brunt. The BBMP Control room received complaints of water logging in Rajajinagar, Mahalakshmi, Vijayanagar and Rajajrajeshwari Nagar areas. Storm water drains overflowed in Laggere and Kuruburahalli.

Two trees were uprooted, one in Sirsi Circle Mysuru Road near Joshi nursing home and the other near Sree Rama Mandir at Rajajinagar.

As per the All India Weather observation for the city, isolated rains would continue until October 19.

Bescom received 2,246 calls between 6 pm and 9 pm, and 5420 since 12 noon. Electric poles fell at Wilson Garden and Manorayanapalya, while there were reports of transformer failure, fuse blow outs and other electrical snags at Jayanagar, Banashankari and Anand Reddy Layout.

Faulty cables, bent poles, feeder trip and fault service occurred at Puttenahalli, Hebbal and IISc.

Power trips due to water logging were the highest in Vijayanagar and RR Nagar.
