Kurnool: First-time MLAs find their job challenging

Some plan to take help of library to know about proceedings.

Kurnool: First-time MLAs from Kurnool district, six from 14 Assembly constituencies, who had entered the Legislative Assembly in Amaravati had memorable experiences to share.

While some feel bigger responsibility on their shoulders, others felt they should take the help of their seniors to know about the proceedings in the Assembly and get into the business quickly.

Silpa Ravi Chandra Reddy (Nandyal), Hafeez Khan (Kurnool), Gangula Brijendra Reddy (Allagadda), Kangati Sridevi (Pathikonda), Dr Sudhakar Babu (Kodumur) and Arthur from Nandikotkur won on YSR Congress tickets and are first-timers.

Nandyal MLA Silpa Ravi Chandra Reddy said that he was thrilled to be in the House which had little presence of Opposition. He said that a bigger task was on their shoulders being the MLAs of the ruling party and vowed to strive to realise the aspirations of the electorate.

Silpa Ravi Chandra Reddy said he has his father, who served as a minister in YSR government, to guide him. However, he said he would take the help of books to know more about the system and procedures to be followed in the Assembly.

Kurnool MLA Hafeez Khan said that it was a memorable experience stepping into the Assembly. “Emerging victorious after the tough fight in the polls and getting into the corridors of the Assembly is a great experience in my life,” he said. Further, he said he would spend some time in the library to know about the proceedings in the House and get a hold on his job.

Allagadda MLA Gangula Brijendra Reddy said that he was a third-generation MLA from his family and felt that it was a golden opportunity to serve the people of Allagadda. He said he would try to fulfil all the promises he made during the hustings.
