Valsan Thillenkeri says he checked cops' age

Chithira Atta Vilakku was the first occasion when the state government deputed women cops at Sabarimala

KOZHIKODE: RSS leader Valsan Thillankeri has triggered a controversy by claiming that he had checked the age proof of 15 women cops who were deputed at Sabarimala for Chithira Atta Vilakku function recently and verified that all were above 50.

The ‘examination’ was done with the support of top police officers, he said at the ‘Save Sabarimala’ conference convened by Hindu organizations here on Sunday.

Chithira Atta Vilakku was the first occasion when the state government deputed women cops at Sabarimala. Mr Thillenk-eri hinted that the RSS will have its own ways to implement its agenda at Sabarimala irrespective of the restrictions imposed by the government.

“The certificate of a cop mentioned her husband’s age as 49. Then, normally the wife should be younger. But there are exceptions where the wives are older than the husbands. Yet, we approached two SP-level officers to clarify this. I examined and verified the age proofs of all the 15 women cops. They all were above 50. The fact that we could examine and verify the age underlines the strength of Hindu unity,” Mr Thillenkeri said.

Earlier, he was embroiled in a controversy at Sabari-mala when he allegedly cli-mbed the sacred 18 steps without ‘Irumudi’ and spo-ke to agitating devotees on the megaphone of police.
