TRS man kin tries to grab land, backs off

Last week, a 15-member gang brought in equipment to level the ground of the Women's Cooperative Society, Road No.

Hyderabad: The kin of a senior TRS leader allegedly attempted to grab a piece of prime land at Banjara Hills but backed out at the last minute. They are now pressurising the local police not to reveal their names, fearing losing the B- Form.

Last week, a 15-member gang brought in equipment to level the ground of the Women’s Cooperative Society, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills. The two-year-old multi-crore land grabbing case which is under investigation, once again cropped up, because these men entered as a new litigant and tried to occupy. The WCS land is already the subject of a two-year-old land-grabbing case that is in the courts.

When the society members learnt of the latest move, they questioned the men, who named the top brass in the TRS as kin. When the named leader’s family members were called to the police station for a primary enquiry, they reportedly abused the police. With elections round the corner, the episode ended with the relatives backing off. The same TRS leader’s family was earlier involved in another land scam.

This newspaper correspondent visited the property measuring three acres and 13 guntas, located in Survey No. 129/30-Banjara Hill Road number 12. Adjacent to it is a small parcel of government land. The gang which tried to level the ground falls in both the private and government land that indicates an act of land grabbing. On further investigation, it was found that, in 2005, one K.R. Reddy obtained a sale deed of the WCS land from Mannur Shaikh, an accused in the case, who the WSC has named in its case.

The documents were forged and did not have a valid title. It was with this fake document, that the gang who claimed to be men of K.R. Reddy entered the property with a JCB. The original members of the society filed a formal complaint with the Banjara Hills police station against ‘unknown person’.

Following this, the police took the men into custody for interrogation.

A source revealed that “the kin made several calls to the Banjara Hills police to zero down on the regional sub-inspector handling the case to tackle the officer. One from the family said he has an agreement with K.R. Reddy and holds authority over the land, while the other says we have nothing to do with the property, and don’t take our names. Even the TRS leader, who is a think-tank to TRS supremo, enquired with the police if their family name was mentioned in the complaint”.
