Ready for PoK: Bipin Rawat

VK talks of special strategy

Gwalior (MP): Union minister General V.K. Singh (retd) said here on Thursday that the Union government has a “special strategy” for Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

However, such things are not discussed in public, Gen Singh told reporters here.

He was replying to a question about Army Chief Bipin Rawat’s statement that the forces were always ready for action in the PoK but the decision is for the government to take.

“Such things are not spoken about in public. There is a special strategy for this. It will be acted upon (us par karya hoga'),” Singh, a former Army chief, said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan on Thursday said Prime Minister Imran Khan will make a “policy statement” on Kashmir on Friday during his public address at the PoK's capital Muzaffarabad, a PTI report said.

Announcing this during his weekly media briefing here on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal said Pakistan is ready for any third party mediation to resolve the Kashmir issue and asserted that the legality of the matter is based on international law.

Mediation offers (on Kashmir) are there but India is not ready. We are ready for it. Our considered view is that all problems can be solved through talks, he said.

Faisal said Prime Minister Khan in his public address in Muzaffarabad would make a “policy statement on Kashmir.” However, the Foreign Office spokesperson did not elaborate.

Pakistan on Thursday boycotted the inauguration of the first ever conference of Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) Countries on military medicine held in New Delhi.

The conference was inaugurated by defence minister Rajnath Singh. The seats allotted to Pakistani delegation for the conference were vacant.

Also, top Muslim body Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind said Kashmir is an “integral part” of the country and the welfare of the Valley’s people lies in their integration with India, even as it urged the government to use all means for bringing back normalcy.
